How to Add an Instagram Feed in Divi 5 (Native Module vs Plugin)

Quick answer: You can add an Instagram feed in Divi 5 two ways. Divi 5.6 and later include a free Instagram Feed module: paste an access token, pick how many posts to show, and you get a grid with a photo lightbox. The Divi Instagram Feed plugin adds masonry, highlight and slider layouts, a profile header, a popup that plays videos, and a Load More button, and it works in Divi 4 too.

An Instagram feed shows your latest Instagram posts on your website. Post a new photo on Instagram and it shows up on your site on its own, with nothing to re-upload. Since May 2026, the Divi Builder has had its own module for this. This guide shows both methods step by step, compares them side by side, and covers the one thing that breaks most Instagram feeds: the access token.

What do you need before you add an Instagram feed to Divi 5?

  • A Professional Instagram account. Creator or Business both work. Personal accounts lost all API access when Instagram shut down its Basic Display API on December 4, 2024. Switching to Creator is free, you can switch back, and your profile looks the same. Our guide to the 2026 Instagram API changes explains why.
  • A public profile. Instagram only gives access tokens for public accounts.
  • An access token. Both methods below ask you to paste one. You make it in your own free Meta developer app. Our step-by-step token guide takes about 10 minutes.

Does Divi 5 have an Instagram feed module?

Yes. Elegant Themes added an Instagram Feed module in Divi 5.6.0, released on May 22, 2026, according to the Divi 5 changelog. It shows your posts in a grid, opens photos in a lightbox, and can add a "Follow" button under the feed. Divi 5.15.0, released on October 9, 2026, removed its old limit of 24 posts.

How do you add an Instagram feed with Divi 5's native module?

These steps follow Elegant Themes' Instagram Feed module guide:

  1. Open your page in the Divi Builder and add the Instagram Feed module.
  2. In the Account setting, add a new account. Give it a name, paste your access token, and save.
  3. Under Feed, set how many posts to show. The default is 6.
  4. Use Divi's layout options to set the columns and the gap between photos. The module starts with 3 columns and a 16px gap.
  5. Leave Open in Lightbox on if visitors should see photos without leaving your site.
  6. Turn on the Follow Button and change its text if you like.
  7. Save, then check the page on a phone. Two columns usually look best on small screens.

What does the native Instagram Feed module not do?

  • Grid only. There is no masonry, highlight or slider layout.
  • No profile header. It can't show your profile photo, name or follower count above the feed.
  • Videos leave your site. The lightbox opens photos only. Videos and Reels open on Instagram in a new tab.
  • No hover details or Load More button. Visitors can't see likes or captions on hover, and they can't load more posts.
  • Divi 5 only. If some of your client sites still run Divi 4, the module isn't there.

For a simple photo grid on one site, the native module is enough.

How do you add an Instagram feed in Divi 5 with the Divi Instagram Feed plugin?

Divi Instagram Feed is our Instagram plugin for Divi. It works in Divi 5 and Divi 4.

  1. Install and activate Divi Instagram Feed. A Divi Instagram Feed menu appears in your WordPress admin.
  2. Go to Divi Instagram Feed → Accounts and click Connect Account.
  3. Paste your access token and pick the account type. Choose Creator (Instagram Login) for most accounts. Choose Business (Facebook Page) only if a Facebook Page manages your Instagram. Your username and profile photo appear in the list. You can connect more than one account.
  4. Open your page in the Divi Builder and add the Instagram Feed module. Set Instagram Source to Account, then pick your account under Select Account.
  5. Pick a Layout: Grid, Masonry, Highlight, or Slider / Carousel. Then set Number of Posts and Number of Columns.
  6. Set Open Posts In to Popup Box. Photos, videos and multi-photo posts then open on your page. Turn on Show Popup Info Panel to show the caption, likes and date beside each post.
  7. Turn on Show Header to add your profile photo, name, follower count and a Follow button above the feed.
  8. If you like, show likes, comments or captions on hover, and add a Load More button.
  9. Save, then check the page on a phone. You can set different column counts for desktop, tablet and phone.

Why do Instagram feeds in Divi stop working?

  • The token expired. Instagram tokens last about 60 days. Meta's token reference says a long-lived token can be refreshed once it is at least 24 hours old, as long as it hasn't expired, and a refreshed token lasts another 60 days. With either method, paste a fresh token about every 50 days so the feed never goes blank.
  • The token was short-lived. If the feed stops within an hour of connecting, you probably pasted a short-lived token. Make a long-lived one with our token guide.
  • The account is personal or private. Switch to a Creator account and make the profile public, then connect again.
  • A new post hasn't shown up yet. This one isn't broken. Both methods save a copy of your feed for about an hour so pages load fast, so a new post can take up to an hour to appear.
